Residential Complex "Sunny City"

Residential Complex "Sunny City" is a large residential complex in Kazan, whose architectural concept is built around restrained contemporary geometry, a light colour palette and expressive facade accents. The architectural image of the microdistrict was developed by a group of architects led by Dmitry Puzyrev, chief architect of Ak Bars Dom.

Pre-painted aluminium became one of the key facade materials. Corrugated metal panels create a rhythmic surface, add depth to the facades and help emphasise individual volumes within the large residential ensemble.

Thanks to the profiled geometry, the metal works particularly actively with light. Throughout the day, alternating light and shadow stripes appear on the surface, so the facade is perceived as more volumetric and changes depending on the viewing angle.

Aluminium elements interact with quieter facade planes and glazing, creating an expressive contrast of textures. Here, the metal does not overload the architecture, but becomes a tool that helps structure large volumes and give them a more individual character.

As a result, "Sunny City" is perceived as a coherent residential ensemble, where laconic architecture gains additional expressiveness through the relief, colour and plasticity of metal surfaces.
