Shagal — a large-scale residential quarter on the former ZIL territory in Moscow, developing along the Moscow River. The project's architecture is conceived as a complex urban composition of buildings of varying heights and forms, united by a system of boulevards, courtyards and public spaces by the water.

Pre-painted aluminium becomes one of the key facade materials. Its smooth metallic surface emphasizes the contemporary character of the architecture and works especially expressively in buildings facing the river.

The facades feature a complex grey-rose colour with three-layer coating application. The multi-layer system creates additional colour depth: the surface is not perceived as monochromatic and changes depending on light intensity, viewing angle and surrounding environment.

This effect is especially noticeable near the water. In diffused light, the metal appears cooler and silvery-grey, while direct sunlight reveals warm rosy and pearlescent shades. Reflections of sky and water intensify the colour transitions, making the facade visually dynamic and revealing itself differently throughout the day.

Here, the colour of aluminium works as a full part of the architecture. It emphasizes the geometry of volumes, softens the scale of large-scale development and connects the buildings with the ever-changing light of the embankment.
