ORDYNKA Collection of Club Houses is a residential ensemble in the historic centre of Moscow, on Malaya Ordynka, where architecture is built on a dialogue between several epochs. The project was developed by the studio Architects of Invention under the direction of Anton Khmelnitsky: historic mansions and preserved factory buildings here coexist with new buildings executed in a contemporary architectural language.

The distinctive feature of the complex is the contrast between the street facade and the interior facades. From the Malaya Ordynka side, a more traditional image of Zamoskvorechye is preserved, whereas inside the ensemble the architecture becomes more plastic and bold: angular lines, large glazing, deep openings, and complex three-dimensional geometry emerge.

Metal plays an important role in this transition. Copper and anodised metal elements emphasize the new volumes, work in surrounds, inlays, and large facade surfaces, creating an expressive contrast with white architectural concrete, natural stone, and historic brick.

Metal surfaces reveal themselves differently in natural light: by day they emphasize the depth and breaks in the facade, and in softer light they become calmer and closer in tone to the historic palette of Zamoskvorechye. As a result, the contemporary part of the complex does not conflict with its surroundings but engages in a subtle material dialogue with them.

As a result, ORDYNKA is perceived not as a single new volume, but as a collection of houses different in character, united by a common architectural logic. Metal becomes one of the main instruments that helps connect the historic foundation with contemporary plasticity and emphasize the individuality of the new facades.
