Residential Complex "Dolgorokovskaya"

<strong>"Dolgorokovskaya 25"</strong> is an intimate residential complex in the historic centre of Moscow, whose architectural concept was developed by the <strong>APEX</strong> bureau. The project consists of two five-storey towers and is constructed as a contemporary interpretation of urban development in the Tverskoy district, where new architecture enters into dialogue with the surrounding historical context.<br><br>
The foundation of the facades is hand-moulded clinker brick in a deep coffee shade. Its rough, dense texture gives the building materiality and connects the new volumes with the brick architecture of the neighbouring Church of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker.
Against this backdrop, metal becomes particularly expressive. Aluminium panels with a copper-gold effect are used in window reveals, flashings, exterior window sills and entrance groups. Their smooth, iridescent surface contrasts with the texture of the brick and decorative facade elements, creating a sense of warm radiance that seems to emerge from the depth of the window openings.
Metal here does not become an independent building envelope, but works pointedly – emphasizing the depth of windows, the geometry of openings and details of entrance zones. As a result, the facade gains an additional layer: in different lighting conditions, the copper-gold surfaces either become bright accents or almost dissolve into the overall warm palette of the brick.<br><br>
Sloped upper storeys give the towers a characteristic plasticity and make the silhouette more expressive. In combination with brick, metal and large glazing, the architecture is perceived as simultaneously dense, intimate and meticulously detailed.
As a result, "Dolgorokovskaya 25" is built on a delicate balance between historical context and contemporary materiality. Brick forms the main mass of the building, while metal becomes the accent that adds depth, light and a sense of precious finishing to the facade.
