Voria Bogorodskoye, Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God
1/ 7
Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God in Voria-Bogorodskoye — an Orthodox church in the Shchelkovsky city district of Moscow region, built on the site of a revived parish in 2011–2016. The temple's architecture continues the tradition of Russian church architecture, combining brick walls, expressive roofing plasticity, and a complex dome system.
A special role in the building's image is played by roofing made of pre-painted aluminium. For complex roof sections, scale roofing technology has been applied, which is especially suitable for temple architecture with its domes, curved surfaces, and transitions between various volumes.
Scale covering allows work with metal almost like with a plastic decorative material. Elements of different sizes follow the roofing geometry and help carefully form complex surfaces while maintaining roof integrity even on small radii and transitions.
Aluminium here is important not only technically but also visually. The metal surface emphasizes the temple's silhouette, domes, and roofing volumes, actively interacts with natural light, and changes character depending on the weather — from soft muted shine to brighter reflection in the sun.
In church architecture, the color and character of metal have special significance, so the roofing system becomes a full part of the artistic image. Due to the plasticity of the scale, metal is not perceived as ordinary sheet roofing but rather forms a more complex, almost jewel-like surface.
As a result, pre-painted aluminium helps connect the traditional silhouette of an Orthodox church with modern roofing technology. The metal emphasizes the complexity of the dome composition while simultaneously providing careful work with architecture featuring small radii and curved surfaces.
