UGMK Arena
1/ 4
UGMK Arena — a multifunctional sports and concert complex in Yekaterinburg, whose architecture is built on a combination of large scale, streamlined geometry and expressive metal shell.
The main architectural approach is a seamless external volume that is perceived almost as a single object without rigid separation between roof and facade. Smooth lines, rounded corners and extended metal surfaces emphasise the building's dynamism and create a recognisable silhouette.
Pre-painted aluminium plays a key role in the arena's appearance. Metal panels allow precise assembly of the facade's complex geometry, maintain the cleanliness of large surfaces and create the effect of a continuous shell. Due to its reflective properties, the metal is perceived differently throughout the day — from calmer and matte to bright and saturated in direct light.
In combination with large glazed areas, aluminium makes the building's scale visually lighter. Glass reveals internal public spaces, while metal forms the main plastic framework of the architectural image.
As a result, UGMK Arena is perceived as a modern urban object, where metal becomes one of the main tools of architecture — it defines the form, emphasises movement and brings the large sports complex together into a cohesive expressive volume.
