Ilghar Mamedov Fencing Centre
1/ 9
Ilghar Mamedov Fencing Centre — a modern sports complex in Novogorsk, located on the picturesque bank of the Shodnya river. The architectural image of the building is based on a combination of dynamic geometry, large glazing and expressive metal cladding.

The irregular volume of the building seems to follow the natural lines of the surrounding landscape, and large glass surfaces enhance the visual connection between interiors and nature. Against this background, aluminium works particularly expressively, becoming one of the main facade materials.

For cladding, aluminium panels in warm sand-coloured shades were used. Several similar colours alternate in a given rhythm, so the facade is not perceived as flat and gains additional depth. Under different lighting, the metal is revealed differently — from soft beige tones to more saturated golden sand-coloured shades.

The metal cladding emphasizes the horizontal dynamics of the building and helps visually soften the scale of the sports complex. In combination with glass and the natural surroundings, aluminium creates a calm but expressive image, connected with the autumn palette and light.

As a result, the architecture of the Fencing Centre is built on a precise balance between sports energy and natural context: the metal sets the rhythm and colour of the facade, while the glazing makes the volume more open and light.
