Okskaya Moscow Metro Station

Okskaya Moscow Metro Station — a station on the Nekrasovskaya Line, opened in 2020. The architectural concept was developed by Mosengineering Project; the project's chief architect was A.L. Vigdorov, and the design team leader was S.V. Karetnikov.
The station's architectural image is built on large colour planes and simple geometric forms. The primary visual accent is the ceiling above the platform area, which reads as a continuous bright surface and sets the character for the entire space.
The key interior material is pre-painted aluminium. A specially developed saturated blue shade was created for the station and used throughout the platform, entrance halls, and ticket office. The colour transitions from lighter azure to deep blue, evoking associations with water and sky.
A fine-striped graphic pattern is applied to the metallic surface, preventing the ceiling from appearing uniform. As one moves along the platform and lighting changes, the aluminium surface is perceived differently: the pattern becomes more or less prominent and nearly dissolves into the overall colour.
It is aluminium that allows colour, graphics, and complex geometry to unite into a single architectural system. The material's lightness and ability to work with large panels make it particularly suited for metro interiors, where dimensional accuracy, durability, and surface resistance are paramount.
As a result, Okskaya is built around one powerful architectural device: a saturated blue metallic plane passes through the station's space and becomes its primary visual landmark.
