Khoroshevskaya Metro Station

Khoroshevskaya Metro Station is a station on the Big Circle Line, opened in 2018. The architectural project was developed by the team at Metrogiprotrans under the direction of Nikolay Shumakov. The station space is built on a combination of light stone, saturated violet marble, and metal surfaces, with the artistic theme dedicated to Russian avant-garde.
The interior is anchored by a strict columnar structure and large light ceiling planes. The violet stone hue references the Tagansko-Krasnopresenskaya Line, which connects to this station, while white and black elements help organise the space into a more graphic and contemporary composition.
Aluminium plays an important role in the finishing. The platform area and vestibules feature three-ply aluminium honeycomb panels as well as metal ceiling systems. Lightweight panels allow the formation of large, even surfaces and perform well in the complex underground environment.
Aluminium takes on special significance in the artistic design of the vestibules. Large-format images dedicated to suprematism and constructivism are applied to the metal panels. The eastern vestibule references Malevich, Rodchenko, Popova, and Exter, while the western vestibule draws from the architecture of the Vesnin brothers, Ginzburg, Golosov, Leonidov, Ladovskiy, and Melnikov.
Thus, metal here functions in two capacities: as an architectural material and as a carrier of graphics. Aluminium panels form ceilings and walls, reflect light, and simultaneously become the foundation for artistic compositions, transforming engineering finishing into part of the station's overall image.
As a result, Khoroshevskaya is perceived as a unified space where stone, light, aluminium, and graphics are brought together by the common theme of Russian avant-garde. Metal helps make the interior visually lighter while emphasising its strict, graphic character.
