SHYMKENT PLAZA is a large shopping and entertainment centre in the heart of Shymkent, with an architectural concept developed by British studio Benoy in collaboration with Kazakhstan-based company Astana Engineering Project. The complex is located near Al-Farabi Square and creates a distinctive public landmark in the city's urban fabric.

The building's architecture is built on a combination of large geometric volumes, cantilever elements, extended storefronts and an expressive metallic envelope. The facades are designed so that the large-scale shopping centre is perceived more dynamically and reveals itself differently from the main urban directions.

One of the key facade materials is pre-painted aluminium. Aluminium panels form large sections of the external envelope, emphasise the geometry of the building and create clean, even surfaces that contrast with the transparent entrance and display zones.

The metal is particularly prominent on the protruding volumes and extended facade planes. Depending on the lighting, the aluminium surface changes the depth and intensity of reflections, so the large shopping complex does not appear as a static monolith.

The combination of aluminium and glass helps visually divide the functional zones of the building. Transparent sections make the entrances and public spaces more open, while the metallic cladding unifies the composition and emphasises its horizontal and vertical directions.

As a result, SHYMKENT PLAZA achieves a unified contemporary image where aluminium becomes one of the principal architectural materials. It helps work with the building's large scale, emphasises its form and at the same time supports the character of a major urban public centre.
