ARKA Hotel by Ginza Project — a hotel complex in the historic centre of Rostov-on-Don, designed by the architectural bureau «New R.A.S.A.». The architectural image of the project is built on a combination of brick plasticity characteristic of old urban development and expressive metal elements that give the building a more contemporary character.
The basis of the facades is hand-formed brick with the effect of a naturally aged surface. Its texture supports the historical context of Rostov and refers to traditional Old World urban architecture, including Victorian and industrial aesthetics.
Pre-painted aluminium plays a key role in the building's image. The roofing, which partially extends onto the facades, is made from aluminium S.Falz in the colour SEVALLAM COPPER PATINA DARK GREEN. The deep green shade with a patinated copper effect creates an expressive contrast with the warm brick masonry and enhances the perception of architecture that has evolved over time.
Metal here functions as a binding element between the roof and facade. Standing seam surfaces emphasize the complex geometry of the building, form its characteristic silhouette, and add depth to the architecture. Depending on the lighting, the green aluminium becomes either darker and more matte, or reveals cold copper-patinated nuances.
As a result, ARKA Hotel is perceived as a contemporary interpretation of historic urban architecture. The brick creates a sense of age and materiality, while aluminium with a patinated copper effect adds expressiveness to the building and unites the complex composition into a cohesive architectural image.
