Educational Centre for Gifted Children "Sirius", "School" Building

"School" building of the Educational Centre "Sirius" — one of the key academic buildings in the complex, designed by the architectural bureau "Studio 44". The building features an unusual ring-shaped form with a large internal courtyard, in the centre of which an existing mulberry tree was preserved. This composition allows educational spaces to be organised around a common recreational core while simultaneously forming a cohesive, recognisable silhouette. The architectural character of the building is largely defined by the aluminium shell. The external layer of the double roof and facade is made of honeycomb aluminium, cantilevered on a metal frame. As a result, the building is perceived as a single silvery volume in which the roof and facade virtually merge into one another. Metal here functions simultaneously as both a technological and visual material. The smooth aluminium surface emphasises the complex ring-shaped geometry, reflects the bright southern light, and makes the large volume appear visually lighter. Window openings and skylight apertures are integrated into the shell, while coloured surrounds of entrances and transparent elements help with orientation inside the building and mark different functional zones. The result is that the "School" building is perceived as a unified high-tech shell, where aluminium, light, and continuous geometry work together. Metal not only forms the external image of the building but also emphasises the very principle of its architecture — a closed circle of educational spaces around a green internal courtyard.
