Cultural cluster in Kemerovo — a large-scale museum, theatre and educational complex forming a new cultural centre for Kuzbass. The architectural project was developed by Austrian studio Coop Himmelb(l)au under the direction of Wolf Prix. The complex unites museum, theatre, concert and educational spaces within a single architectural system.

The architecture is built on the interaction of dynamic volumes, large glazed surfaces and an expressive metal envelope. The complex plasticity of the facades emphasises the public scale of the complex and forms a recognisable silhouette.

One of the key materials is pre-painted aluminium. Flat and 3D panels emphasise the breaks and movement of the architectural form, linking different functional volumes into a unified composition.

Combined with glass, the metal creates a contrast of density and transparency. Under varying light conditions, the aluminium surface changes the depth and character of reflections, strengthening the complex geometry of the facade and adding visual dynamics.

Here aluminium functions not simply as cladding but as a full architectural tool — it helps realise complex plasticity, emphasise the movement of volumes and form the modern technological image of one of Kuzbass's major cultural landmarks.
