Coating types
PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride)
The coating consists of polyvinylidene fluoride and acrylic. It is the most durable polymer coating for aluminium under all types of environmental exposure. Aluminium products with this type of coating are recommended for ventilated facades, roofing and interiors, as the coating fully demonstrates all its properties and guarantees long service life of the facade or roof. The coating has enhanced corrosion resistance and reliably protects the facade from the effects of water, snow and acids. This type of coating is recommended for use in coastal zones (marine climate). Aluminium with PVDF coating does not change colour under UV radiation throughout its entire service life. PVDF coatings meet the most demanding technical and architectural requirements and demonstrate the best performance in the manufacture of finished products (facade wall panels, roofing elements). A characteristic feature of this coating type is two-layer and three-layer paint application with a thickness not exceeding 45 µm.
Super-polyester (HD PE)
A polymer coating based on polyester with improved technical and operational characteristics (so-called high durable polyester) with coating thickness up to 45 µm. The increase in coating thickness compared to standard polyester is due to requirements for enhanced wear resistance and resistance to natural factors. Super-polyester contains additional components that increase its UV radiation resistance to category RUV4 (ultraviolet resistance category: 4 out of 5) and create a surface resistant to aggressive atmospheric particles and protected against mechanical damage.
Polyester (PE)
A polyester-based coating. Pre-painted aluminium with this type of coating is resistant to high temperatures and has corrosion resistance. An additional advantage of polyester coating is the possibility of applying anti-graffiti effect. Aluminium painted with polyester (PE) coating finds its application in the decoration of public buildings, offices and retail spaces thanks to its wide colour range and reasonable cost. However, it should be noted that polyester coating has low resistance to ultraviolet radiation. Therefore, manufacturers recommend using products with polyester coating mainly in interior solutions and for internal finishing of buildings and their elements. This will help preserve the aesthetic qualities and durability of the coating throughout its service life.
Anodising
Anodising of aluminium is a process in which the metal surface is covered with an oxide layer.

Buy embossed aluminium coil for facade: texture that transforms buildings
A facade is the business card of any building. Today, architects and builders are increasingly moving away from smooth monotonous surfaces in favour of materials with pronounced texture. One of the most striking and practical solutions is embossed aluminium coil for facade and exterior finishing of buildings. A textured surface not only gives the cladding a noble appearance but also hides minor defects, scratches and installation imperfections. If you want to find out the cost and dimensions of embossed aluminium coil for home finishing per m² in Moscow, this article will help you understand the types of material, its advantages and selection features. Cladding Solutions offers products directly from the manufacturer with delivery throughout the Russian Federation.

What is embossed aluminium coil

Embossed aluminium coil is a thin aluminium sheet with a relief pattern applied to the surface using special rollers. Cold rolling technology allows you to create textures of various depths and geometries: from fine "orange peel" to large geometric patterns.

How embossed aluminium coil is manufactured

The process begins with the preparation of aluminium coil. The metal is then passed through engraved rollers that press the specified pattern onto the surface under pressure. After embossing, the coil can be coated with a polymer composition (polyester, PVDF) or anodised for corrosion protection and colouring.

Key advantages of embossed aluminium

  • Vandal resistance. Thanks to the textured surface, scratches, chips and other damage become almost invisible.

  • Aesthetic appearance. The play of light and shadow on the relief creates volume and depth that smooth materials lack.

  • Lightness. Aluminium is significantly lighter than steel, which simplifies transportation, installation and reduces the load on load-bearing structures.

  • Corrosion resistance. Aluminium does not rust, and polymer coatings provide additional protection from moisture, ultraviolet radiation and aggressive environments.

  • Conceals installation defects. Fine plane variations and fixing traces are not visible on ribbed surfaces.

Types of embossing and where they are used

Diamond (diamond embossing)

A classic pattern - convex diamonds arranged in rows.

Application:

  • Roofing and facades of industrial buildings and hangars.

  • Staircase steps, ramps, platforms (anti-slip properties).

  • Decoration of plinths and underground car parks.

Lentil (lens embossing)

Small oval convexities resembling lentil grains.

Application:

  • Decorative facade panels of public buildings.

  • Cladding of columns and posts in shopping centres.

  • Elements of landscape architecture (pavilions, canopies).

Square (grid)

A clear geometric pattern of squares.

Application:

  • Facades of business centres and administrative buildings (strict style).

  • Roofing of residential complexes (reduces rain noise).

  • Suspended ceilings in stations and airports.

Wave (corrugated embossing)

Longitudinal or transverse waves of various pitches and heights.

Application:

  • Roofing with good water drainage.

  • Canopies, cornices, verandas.

  • Facades with flowing, dynamic forms.

"Oak bark" and other textural patterns

Imitation of natural wood, stone or leather.

Application:

  • Elite facades of private houses and cottages.

  • Interiors in rustic, eco and chalet styles.

  • Restaurants, spa centres, hotels.

Where embossed aluminium coil is used

Ventilated facades

Embossed panels are mounted on a substructure with an air gap. The texture hides inevitable scratches and plane variations during installation.

Suitable for: office centres, shopping complexes, private houses, airports, car park complexes.

Roofing

Diamond, wave-shaped or square embossing improves water drainage, reduces rain noise and prevents sun glare from blinding drivers and pedestrians.

Suitable for: private houses, cottages, industrial buildings.

Decorative elements

Cornices, flashings, downpipes, cornices, entrance groups - any accent details can be made from embossed coil to match the main facade.

Suitable for: any buildings where unified styling is important.

Anti-slip coatings

Due to its relief, embossed aluminium is used for staircase steps, ramps, platforms and ramps.

Suitable for: public buildings, industrial facilities, metro stations.

Frequently asked questions

1. Can embossed aluminium coil be used for staircase steps and ramps?

Yes. The "diamond" and "lentil" patterns have high anti-slip properties. This is an ideal solution for staircase steps, ramps, loading platforms and ramps. The coil thickness should be at least 1.2 mm.

2. What embossing pattern is best for a private house facade?

For a private house, "square" (laconic modern style) or "wood-grain" texture (imitation of natural materials) works well. Diamond looks better on industrial buildings. When choosing, focus on the architecture of the building and the surrounding development.

3. Is it necessary to paint embossed aluminium?

Not necessary, but recommended. Without coating, aluminium dulls over time and can oxidise (especially in industrial zones or on the seacoast). A polymer coating (polyester, PVDF) protects against corrosion, provides any colour from the RAL palette and extends service life to 25–40 years.

4. How to care for a facade made of embossed aluminium?

Maintenance is minimal. Natural rainfall is sufficient. For heavy soiling, use a soft cloth, water and soapy solution. Do not use abrasives, acids, solvents or high water pressure (over 30 bar). Stubborn dirt is removed with special compounds.

5. How to calculate the amount of coil needed for your facility?

First, calculate the coverage area (length × height). Subtract the area of windows and doors. Add allowance for trimming: 5–10% for simple facades, 15–20% for complex ones with many corners and bay windows. Divide by coil width to get the required footage.
