Embossed aluminium sheet S.Stucco

What is embossed aluminium sheet
Embossed aluminium sheet is a metal sheet on the surface of which a regular relief pattern is applied using rollers. Embossing can vary in depth, shape and pitch. At the same time, the sheet retains all the advantages of aluminium: lightness, strength, corrosion resistance, plasticity.
How embossed aluminium sheets are produced
Cold rolling process:
-
Smooth aluminium sheet is passed through two rotating rollers.
-
A pattern is engraved on the roller surface (diamonds, lentil, squares, waves, 'oak bark' and others).
-
Under pressure, the pattern is imprinted on the aluminium.
-
If necessary, the sheet is painted with polymer paints (polyester, PVDF) or coated with varnish.
Sheet thickness ranges from 0.5 to 3.0 mm and more. Width up to 1500 mm. Length up to 6000 mm (or in coils).
Advantages of embossed aluminium
-
Striking appearance. Play of light and shadow, three-dimensional texture.
-
Hides minor defects. Scratches, dents, unevenness of installation on a fluted surface are almost invisible.
-
Increased stiffness. Embossing increases the sheet's bending and crushing resistance.
-
Anti-slip properties. Especially important for roofing, steps, ramps.
-
Masks fingerprints. On a relief surface, fingerprints and water drops are not visible.
Types of embossing and where they are used
Diamond (diamond embossing)
Classic pattern - convex diamonds with smooth gaps or covering the entire surface.
Application:
-
Roofing and facades (gives an 'industrial' style).
-
Staircase steps, ramps, walkways (anti-slip properties).
-
Platform and overpass walkways.
Lentil (lens embossing)
Small oval or round convexities resembling lentil grains.
Application:
-
Cladding of columns and walls in interiors (soft play of light).
-
Furniture elements (bar counters, facades).
-
Decorative panels.
Square (check pattern)
Clear geometric pattern of squares or rectangles.
Application:
-
Facades of business centres (strict, modern appearance).
-
Industrial building roofing.
-
Entrance groups.
Wave (corrugated embossing)
Longitudinal or transverse waves of varying pitch and height.
Application:
-
Roofing (good water drainage).
-
Awnings, canopies.
-
Facades with flowing, dynamic forms.
'Oak bark' (textured embossing)
Imitation of natural wood bark or stone.
Application:
-
Elite facades and roofing.
-
Landscape architecture (gazebos, pergolas).
-
Interiors in 'rustic', eco, chalet style.
Comparison of embossed and smooth aluminium sheet
| Characteristic | Embossed sheet | Smooth sheet |
|---|---|---|
| Appearance | Textured, three-dimensional | Even, minimalist |
| Hiding scratches and dents | High | Low (everything is visible) |
| Anti-slip properties | High | Low |
| Bending stiffness | Higher (due to relief) | Lower |
| Maintenance complexity | Moderate (dust may accumulate) | Low |
| Cost | Higher by 15–25% | Lower |
| Primary application | Roofing, steps, premium facades | Facades, interior finishing |
Where embossed aluminium sheets are used for facade and roofing
Building facades
Embossed aluminium is used in ventilated facades. Panels are mounted on a substructure with an air gap. Thanks to the relief, the facade 'plays' in different lighting, hides minor unevenness of installation and does not reflect.
Suitable for: office centres, shopping complexes, private houses, premium segment projects.
Roofing
Diamond, wave or square embossing is an excellent choice for pitched roofs. The relief improves water drainage, reduces rain noise, and minor defects from transportation or installation are not visible on metal roofing.
Suitable for: private houses, cottages, farm buildings.
Roofing elements
Eaves, flashings, downpipes, ridges – they are also made from embossed aluminium to match the main roof and not reflect in the sun.

Frequently asked questions
1. How does embossed sheet differ from corrugated sheet?
Corrugated sheet is a corrugated (wavy) sheet with large trapezoidal or wave-shaped ribs for reinforcement. Embossed sheet has a fine regular pattern (diamonds, lentils, etc.) which does not increase load-bearing capacity but improves appearance and anti-slip properties.
2. Which embossing pattern is best for roofing?
Diamond and square are the most popular. They provide good water drainage, reduce rain noise and hide minor defects. Wave is also good, but it is more difficult to seal on complex areas.
3. Does embossed aluminium need to be painted?
Not necessarily, but desirable. Without coating, embossed aluminium will dull over time and may oxidize (especially in aggressive environments). Coating (polyester, PVDF) protects against corrosion and gives any RAL colour. For premium facades, we recommend PVDF.
4. Can embossed sheets be bent?
Yes, but with caution. The bending direction should match the direction of the embossing lines (if the pattern is directional). Bending across the relief may distort the pattern. It is better to order already bent profiles from the manufacturer.
5. How to maintain an embossed facade?
Natural rainfall is sufficient. For heavy soiling – soft cloth and soapy solution. Do not use abrasives, acids, solvents or high water pressure (above 30 bar). Stubborn dirt (bitumen, oils) is removed with special compounds.
Beautiful, durable and practical
Embossed aluminium sheet is an excellent choice for those who want a beautiful, durable and practical facade or roof. A fluted surface does not reflect, hides minor defects, resists scratches and fingerprints. And a wide choice of patterns (diamond, lentil, square, wave, 'oak bark') allows you to realize any architectural vision.
